BIAB™ FAQs

Yes. New Gen BIAB™ contains HEMA.

This is an important distinction between New Gen BIAB™ and our dedicated TPO & HEMA-free BIAB™ formulas.

No. Our recommended soft BIAB™ application process remains the same.

As always, we recommend applying and fully curing your base layer before building your BIAB™ overlay.

Yes. New Gen BIAB™ has a slightly thinner viscosity than the previous Original BIAB™ formula.

You may notice that the product moves and levels more quickly during application. This is completely normal and is part of the improved self-levelling properties of the new formulation.

Not for every client. New Gen BIAB™ has a built-in base coat and can be applied directly to the natural nail following the recommended BIAB™ preparation and application process.

However, for certain nail types, pairing New Gen BIAB™ with a compatible base coat can help improve longevity and retention. We recommend using a compatible base coat for clients with weak or damaged natural nails, those who are prone to lifting or breakages, or clients with naturally oilier hair and skin, as these factors may impact product retention.

Always assess the individual client's natural nails and service history to determine the most suitable system.

Yes. New Gen BIAB™ features our new C-curve brush, designed to complement the new formulation and support smooth, controlled, precise application.

New Gen BIAB™ is a new formulation and features a slightly thinner viscosity, improved self-levelling properties and our new C-curve brush.

It is therefore completely normal for experienced Original BIAB™ users to notice a difference in how the product feels and moves during application.

The recommended BIAB™ application process remains the same.

You may notice that the inhibition layer on New Gen BIAB™ feels tackier than the previous Original BIAB™ formula. The increased tackiness of the inhibition layer is caused by reduced photo-initiator levels and the interference of oxygen at the surface level during the cure.

This is completely normal and is a characteristic of the new low-heat spike formulation.

A tackier inhibition layer does not, on its own, mean that the product has not cured correctly when the correct application and curing protocol has been followed.

No. A slightly thinner viscosity does not mean that more product needs to be applied.

Continue to build the appropriate structure for the client's natural nail length and condition using the recommended BIAB™ application method.

As New Gen BIAB™ is a reformulated product, very slight differences may be noticeable compared with the previous formulation.

Always refer to current New Gen BIAB™ swatches when selecting a shade.

The new formulation has been developed to provide a true-to-shade finish after curing.

Always follow the recommended curing protocol using the appropriate TGB lamp.

Yes. New Gen BIAB™ can be maintained using the recommended BIAB™ infill process, provided the existing product is suitable to remain on the nail.

Always assess the natural nail and existing product before beginning an infill and completely remove any lifting or compromised product.

No. The recommended BIAB™ removal process remains the same.

Different BIAB™ formulations may, however, look or feel slightly different as they break down during soak-off due to their individual formulation characteristics.

No. New Gen BIAB™ is a new formulation.

It has been developed to deliver the strength, durability and performance expected from Original BIAB™, but there are differences in the formulation and application experience.

These include a slightly thinner viscosity, improved self-levelling, a new C-curve brush and a tackier inhibition layer after curing.

New Gen BIAB™ is TPO-free and contains HEMA.

The New Gen BIAB™ bottles have had a rebrand and now display the new product name on the front of bottle to help you clearly identify and distinguish from Original BIAB™. The bottles will also have a QR code on the side to make it easier to distinguish and gain all the information you need for the system.

No. Although their names sound similar, TPO and TPO-L are different ingredients. Both are photo initiators, which help gel products cure under UV/LED light.
TPO is listed on ingredient labels as Trimethylbenzoyl Diphenylphosphine Oxide. This is the ingredient affected by the TPO ban.
TPO-L, which we use in some of our formulas, is listed as Ethyl Trimethylbenzoyl Phenylphosphinate. It is a separate ingredient and is not covered by the TPO ban.
If you spot this name on your ingredient list, it does not mean your product contains TPO.
